Computer Guided Surgery

This is one of the latest developments in implant technology where the patient’s bone is scanned into a computer and the implants are placed via computer to generate a specialised implant guide that is very precise and allows minimally invasive implant placement. Often this can be placed without incision, raising a gum flap or suturing. Sometimes, a modified incision and flap is needed. Overall, the benefit for the patient are improved accuracy and precision of placement and reduction of pain, swelling and minimal recovery time. Not all implant cases are suitable for computer guided surgery.
