Bone Graft Sources

Where does the bone graft come from?

Usually, we remove bone from another area in the mouth of jaw. Often, it is from the chin or back of the lower jaw (ramus). No skin incisions are required.  Very occasionally , if a large quantity of graft is required, the bone graft can be harvested from the hip (iliac crest).  In recent years, this is now less commonly used by Dr Lim due to the availability of new synthetic bone grafting materials which allow for volume augmentation.
