Post Surgery

What to expect after surgery?

There will be some aching discomfort and moderate amount of swelling. Some patients may have some facial bruising. Patients will need approximately 7 to 10 days for recovery. A soft diet will be expected to minimise trauma to the wound and prevent wound breakdown. An anti-bacterial mouth-rinse for 1 to 2 weeks is recommended.

If there is a temporary denture over the grafted site, you may not be able to wear it while there is swelling, usually 1 to 2 weeks. Dr Lim will adjust the denture will need to be adjusted to fit over the grafted site and prevent excessive pressure over the graft.

After 4 months of healing, a cone beam scan is performed to assess the bone grafted site for ability to place implants.
